Sodium Bisulfate, Monohydrate, Crystal, Reagent, also known as sodium hydrogen sulfate, is an acid salt created by partial neutralization of sulfuric acid. Sodium bisulfate is used primarily to lower pH and, in jewelry making, sodium bisulfate is the primary ingredient used in many pickling solutions to remove the oxidation layer from surfaces, which occurs after heating. The Reagent grade denotes that this chemical is the highest quality commercially available and that the American Chemical Society has not officially set any specifications for this material. Dimethyl Sulfoxide, Reagent is an organosulfur, colorless liquid and is also known as DMSO. Acting as an important polar aprotic solvent bcause of its ability to dissolve both polar and non-polar compounds and it's miscibility with a wide range of orgnic solvents inculding water. One of DMSO's main characteristics is its ability to penetrate human skin. In the field of biology it is used in PCR as an inhibitor of secondary structures in DNA templates and/or DNA primers. It can also be used as a cryoprotectant, reducing ice formation in cell media and thus preventing necrosis of the cell during the freezing process.
