Features: Contains 5% sheep blood, colistin, and trimethoprim sulfamethoxasole (SXT). For the selective isolation of Group A Strep only (S. pyogenes) and exhibits beta hemolysis. Inhibits other Streps, Gram negative bacteria, and normal respiratory flora. Not to be used for group B strep or pneumococcus. Preferred for isolating Group A Strep from throat cultures.
