Can individuals buy laboratory chemicals from LPS?
Chemicals ship only to business addresses, and a company name is required at checkout when the cart contains chemicals. Hazardous chemicals cannot be returned, so check the grade and size before you order.
What does 5% sodium hypochlorite mean?
It means the solution contains about 5% sodium hypochlorite, similar in strength to many household bleaches. Labels may express the figure by weight, by volume or as available chlorine, so check which. Sodium hypochlorite solutions lose strength over time, faster when warm or exposed to light, so store them cool and closed, and use fresh stock or verify the concentration for work that depends on an exact value.
What is the difference between anhydrous sodium carbonate and its hydrates?
Anhydrous sodium carbonate contains no water of crystallization, while the monohydrate and decahydrate forms include bound water. That changes the formula weight, so the same mass of each form delivers a different amount of sodium carbonate. When a method specifies one form and you use another, recalculate the mass. The anhydrous form slowly absorbs moisture from air, so keep the container tightly closed.
What is the difference between ACS grade and reagent grade?
ACS grade means the chemical meets or exceeds the purity specifications published by the American Chemical Society in Reagent Chemicals. Reagent grade generally describes a similar high purity suitable for most lab and analytical work, but suppliers do not all use the term the same way. Check the product's specification sheet or certificate of analysis when your method requires a specific limit.
