Luminol, also known as 3-Aminophthalic hydrazide, is a chemical that exhibits chemiluminescence that reacts with iron found in hemoglobin. Biologists use luminol in cellular assays for the detection of iron, copper, and cyanides. Sodium Hydroxide, Flakes, Technical is a highly caustic metallic base combined with alkali salt. Commonly known as Caustic soda, this inorganic compound is water soluble, as well as in ethanol and methanol. The dissolution of solid Sodium Hydroxide in water creates a highly exothermic reaction (creates a lot of heat). One of its many characteristics is that it's a deliquescent alkali and absorbs carbon dioxide and moisture from the air.
