2-Deoxy-D-glucose, Reagent (2-DG) is a glucose molecule which acts to inhibit glucose-6-PO4 from glucose at the phosphoglucoisomerase level. It has the 2-hydroxl group that replaces hydrogen which inhibits further glycolysis. 2-DG has been used as a targeted optical imaging agent for fluorescent in vivo imaging.
