Hexanes, Reagent, ACS, is a mixture of hexane isomers plus methylcyclopentane and is a colorless liquid. It is a used as non-polar solvent since it is low cost, largely unreactive, and relatively safe nature and can be found in specialized glue, as a degreasing agent and to extract cooking oil from seeds. It is used in the laboratory to remove or extract oil and grease contaminant from soil and water sample for analysis.
