Miscellaneous Charges That May Appear on Your Invoice

Invoices for the majority of orders placed on www.labproservices.com website will consist of the price of the item, shipping, and state sales tax if applicable. There may be other charges.

Tariff Fees

Because tariff charges change on a near-daily basis, many of our vendors have adopted a policy of adding a tariff fee rather than constantly changing the selling price of the item. LPS will apply the same cost-plus percentage to the tariff fee we are charged and include this as a line item on your invoice. Note: Tariff fees are taxable.

Sales Taxes

LPS will charge state sales tax and add this amount to your invoice unless you have a resale exemption certificate on file with LPS at the time of purchase. Applicable states include:

  • Tennessee
  • Alabama
  • Florida
  • Maryland
  • New York
  • California
  • Massachusetts

LPS does NOT collect and pay taxes on states that are part of the Multistate Streamlined Sales and Use Tax Agreement:

AR, IA, IN, KS, KY, MT, MN, NC, ND, NE, NJ, NV, OH, RI, OK, SD, UT, VT, WV, WY.

We have no nexus in these states. As a result, businesses in the above states will be liable to pay the sales tax to their taxing authority if they are not tax exempt.

If you have questions regarding sales tax, we recommend you consult this link.

Sales Taxes on Drop Shipments

The following states are NOT party to the Multistate compact and do not have state specific exemption certificates with us:

AK. DC, HI, IL, MI, MN, NV, OR, PA, TX..

If we ship a product to you, and your ship-to address is in one of these states, we may be charged sales taxes by our vendor. Typically this happens when a vendor has a nexus in your state. If we are charged this tax, we will add this tax to your invoice as a separate line item called MISC TAXES. The tax will be passed through directly without a markup.

Other Miscellaneous Fees

Shipping Charges

In certain cases, you may be required to pay shipping fees in addition to our in place of our standard web fee. These include:

  • Hazardous material charges
  • Pallet charges
  • Crating/uncrating charges (white glove service)
  • Blue ice charges / Airfreight
  • Bulk shipping charges (for large or heavy items.)

Minimum Order Fees

Some vendors have a minimum order, typically $50. You may be asked to pay the minimum order fee if your order does not meet the vendor minimum.

Drop Ship Charges

A few of our vendors charge a fee to drop ship products. In most cases, this amount is minimal, and we do not pass it along to the buyer. In some cases it is substantial. If something you are ordering includes a substantial drop ship charge, we will consult with you prior to concluding the sale to determine if we should seek an alternative vendor.

Wire Transfer Fees

Any order shipping outside the US or its territories must be paid in advance via wire transfer. We are charged a fee by our bank for wire transfers and that fee may appear on your invoice.

Why aren’t these charges calculated during checkout on your website?

LPS isn’t your typical distributor with a warehouse with items we can physically weigh and measure and assign a carrier tracking number to when it leaves the dock.

We save you money by NOT having an expensive warehouse and inventory and by shipping products directly from the manufacturer. It’s why you nearly always save money buying through LPS!

Because we drop ship almost every product, there are many cases where we simply don’t know that extra charges may apply. This is especially true since the introduction of additional tariffs this year.

I can assure you that LPS will never use fees as a way to boost profits. If you are asked for additional funds to cover these fees, we will provide you with a full explanation of what the fee is and why you are being asked to pay it.
